Cisco

And when you heard a dining-room smash

Or up from the pantry there came a loud crash

Or down from the library came a loud ping

From a vase which was commonly said to be Ming--

Then the family would say: "Now which was which cat?

It was Mungojerrie! AND Rumpelteazer!"-- And there's nothing at all to be done about that!

Cisco was given to us by one of my former students in the summer of 2003. They had rescued him and as he was partially a feral cat, they had tried to tame him down. I guess city life was not for Cisco, as he was not a very good housecat and the family decided that he would most likely be better off as a barn cat. They brought him out one weekend and we secured him in the lounge of the barn for three days, so that he could become familiar with his surrounding. Each day we visited him and he was not a very happy camper. The day he was allowed to roam free, he underwent a personality change and became a relaxed and cudlly kitty!! Go figure. This wild and crazy cat was licking our faces and begging to be carried around like a baby.

Soon Cisco discovered the house and his days as a barn cat were ended. He returned to his life as a house cat, albeit a country house cat. Cisco has a complex personality, he shows happiness and anger with definite acts. The day his former family came to visit him, he was not happy. I think he thought they had come to take him back to the city. He sulked the whole time they were here and reluctantly let them hold him. After they left, he sat and watched them go down the street in the car, then he proceeded to knock everything he could off of counters, shelves and tables. I think he was saying, don't you dare scare me like that again, I like my country home. I am a country cat, NOT a city cat!!
