Gabby

Gus is the Cat at the Theatre Door.
His name, as I ought to have told you before,
Is really Asparagus. That's such a fuss
To pronounce, that we usually call him just Gus.
His coat's very shabby, he's thin as a rake,
And he suffers from palsy that makes his paw shake.
Yet he was, in his youth, quite the smartest of Cats—
But no longer a terror to mice and to rats.

Like pretty much every other cat we have owned, Gabby is a rescue. On one of our trips to the local Petsmart, we checked out the adoption centre. There was Gabby, the ugliest cat you ever want to see. Her coat was matted and she really looked forlorn. I asked about her and the attendant said she had been there about 6 months and no one knew much about her. She looked so sad, that I just couldn't leave her there. When we said we'd take her, there was great excitement, everyone was so happy to see her finally find a home.

Well after just a very few weeks of love and attention, she has turned out to be a big, beautiful cat. She "talks" all the time, so her name was aptly given to her. She loves attention and wants to snuggle all the time. She loves to get brushed and will knock the brush off her shelf to remind me it is time for a brush.

She has obviously been an indoor cat because she does not like to go out at all. She loves to chase birds though.........through the window!
