THE LAST WORD
in late forties style

Thanks to John Scherz of Estate Road Show Auctions and Accurate Appraisals Partnership this house was found in the 1938 Sears & Roebuck Christmas catalog. The original package had 14 pieces of Midget Tootsietoy furniture. This set is especially neat as it is electric. The roof comes off this highly colorful house, to reveal 3 diverse area rugs, 3 throws, and a really pretty oval hooked rug. An Exact Match was found by John in Patty Cooper & Dian Zillners classic reference, Toy Buildings 1880 - 1980 Page 26. The house was valued by the book at $500 - $700

Let's turn this over.............

Underneath the house there are wires and inside some festive looking lightbulbs. I'm not sure about this though as in the ad it does not show or indicate in the text that the house is lighted. This might be the work of a handy father as a lot of Marx houses were customized by eager dads it seems.

THE FURNITURE

From the ad: Sofa, 2 tables, lamp, 3 arm chairs, easy chair, 2 beds, table, vanity table, chest, piano. The original package had 14 pieces of Midget Tootsietoy furniture.
